The author: Kate Inglis
Kate Inglis lives on the far eastern coastline of Nova Scotia, where she was born. She can show you where pirates buried treasure, yanks a good rope and steps barefoot on dead jellyfish for cheap thrills. Kate, a writer and photographer, can also be found at sweet | salty*, where she has chronicled a journey that's been equal parts joy, blessings and unexpected continent-sized potholes.
In November 2009 her first novel was published — The Dread Crew: Pirates of the Backwoods, a book January Magazine calls "a spirited tale, gorgeously rendered."
The Dread Crew is beautifully illustrated by Halifax native Sydney Smith, and published by Nimbus. The second edition softcover with new glossary of terms landed in Canada and the U.S. in April 2010, and the third edition in winter 2011.
For more on the book, visit the Dread Crew website. For the second book, be patient. With peanut butter ball editor-bribery, expect to have the sequel in-hand by spring 2013. Without peanut butter ball bribery, expect it shortly after that.
