The first signings: events across Nova Scotia

I've been thinking so much about the launch this Sunday that it almost escaped me—the first public signings are coming up fast.

I'd mentioned Saturday, November 7 as the first Halifax signing — that event is being rescheduled. I'll update as soon as it's confirmed. In the meantime, here's the lineup of events across Nova Scotia this month, with more being planned:

Chapters Mic Mac Mall, Dartmouth NS — Sunday Nov. 15, 12:00 - 2:00

Indigo Sunnyside Mall, Bedford NS — Sunday Nov. 15, 3:00 - 5:00 pm

Coles Books, New Minas, NS — Saturday Nov. 21, 12:00 - 2:00 pm

Coles Books, Bridgewater NS — Saturday Nov. 21, 3:30 - 5:30 pm

I'd love some local company. I'll be the one at the table covered in books, tormenting those poor Starbucks barristas to make one of those frozen, $14, chocolate chip iced no-coffee 13,500-calorie latte things that's not on the menu. Again.

Sitting, sipping, hanging out, chatting maggots. Hope to see you there!

I'm sitting here at my parents' house, tea on the way in to the city to hold the real, live book for the first time. It's less than a week now until the launch—the beginning of a season of signings and readings and school appearances and (oh god) reviews and you, reading about Barss Corner hooliganism in your living room in Cornwall or Brisbane or Boise.

Driving in this morning, I thought of Liam. How he will be missing on Sunday, as his brothers weave between legs with skull tattoos on forearms. Inside I spoke I wish you could know this story and just as I did, there was that voice, the one that comes from elsewhere. I already know it, mama and then he got kind of boasty. I already know all your stories, even the ones you haven't written yet, because I'm in here, don't you see?

Cheek.

I bet there is a pirate who is speaking his words....even if you don't know it yet. I am SO excited for you....and also kinda freaked out...a REAL LIVE BOOK....not an abstract. Wonderfully achieved Kate, wonderfully.

Thanks both of you... Bon, I'm so thrilled you'll be there. And wn, I'm indebted to you for Willie's voice, non? I will pay you handsomely in baked goods at our next Maritime Blog'er.

Come to Moncton, so I can show off my friend Kate. :)

I can't wait to hear those stories too.

I do hope they give you and your book some alone time to snuggle. :)

Will the book touring bring you to other provinces? If you make it to the GTA, I'll bring my unruly crew with our copy of Dread Crew.

My family is all getting together in Bridgewater this weekend to celebrate the birth of our newest family member. And that's fine, but I've already warned everyone that I have to be back in Hali by 1, because My Friend Kate is launching The Book, and I can't miss that, not even for six pound beauties.

I am so proud to know you. And I CAN'T WAIT to receive my copy.

I am so excited for you Kate! We are excited to hold and read THE BOOK! I only wish we could make it to a signing but, alas, we live in Colorado :( If you make it to our neck of the woods we will be first in line!

BRAVO Kate!
