AWESOME. Thanks for sharing :) It is wonderful!

Also, I hope you feel better. And. I can't wait for more readings.

Really megsie? Thank you so much. This forcing-self-to-make-it-public thing has been one long very painful exhale. Thank you. That means so much.

oh kate, it is so fabulous to hear your voice..
and having you read that little excerpt really sets the scene with such magic.. wonder. curiosity.
so, when i get my book- does that mean i can have you come over and read it to me?
i really don't think it would be the same.
:)

I'd love to have the whole book on tape, narrated by you.
This was a wonderful appetizer- I want more.
So proud of you. :)

i have to agree with erin, having your book in my hands just won't be the same as your own narrative voice.
thank you for sharing! i was hanging on every word.

Have tried to listen, but it won't work for me. Sob! :( I'm sure it's fantastic though.

I'm so glad you posted this. I had taken the day off to attend Word on the Street to hear this in person, but circumstances (perhaps a pirate conspiracy) prevented it.

Thank you so much everyone for listening and being so encouraging despite me hacking in your ear and sounding like a Grumpy Old Man. More excerpts to come!

I don't think I've been as enthralled in someone reading a story since my mother read me Pinocchio. Your kids are damn lucky to have a storyteller like you as a mother. But to be honest, my favorite part of this recording was not the reading, but the preface, where you talk about the meaning of this location by the pier. You can HEAR the excitement and joy in your voice, despite the hacking cough. And I'm glad your pirates are not typical ah matey types. Time for new pirates. Diversity!

How can I convey how much I loved this? I can't, properly. Am awed.

I must call Woozles tomorrow to get on their list - I can't wait to curl up to read the whole thing. I also must say that I got terribly homesick as you described the setting for the reading. I could almost smell home! Do you remember when you could drive from Terminal Rd all through the port and out to the lower Point Pleasant parking lot? We did that fairly regularly and I loved seeing all the different boats - the fishing boats with the shark fins hanging out to dry and the ship which took passengers to St Pierre et Miquelon. Oh, and remember the tunnel under the train tracks from the end of Barrington St., it terrified me! Is it even still there?

oh kate, your voice is wonderful and i'd gladly listen to your book narrated by you. it's not everyday that an author can narrate well in audio version. i'm so happy for your success; you seem like a wonderful person and i've really enjoyed your blog. you are the writer is aspire to be.
