Very novel

I’ve been a bad newskeeper. I started a Substack and am promptly overthinking Substack. Writing little essays online is harder than it used to be. Or am I more neurotic than I used to be? To the point: The Good Salt Girl is live and alive! Launched! Out! Released from the shackles of my head where it’s lived for a decade, through fallow spells that saw the years come and go.

Some things need the rest to figure out what they are.

My sixth book and first novel. The deep end, at least when it comes to fiction. Surreal.

We had the most wonderful launch at LaHave River Books, where fellow author Ryan Shaw joined me in conversation about writing, and running away. I’m selling signed copies and limited-edition art cards from the barn as long as they last, and already mulling over what’s next.

A million thank-yous to Galleon Books, this story’s shepherd. And to novelists Beth Powning, Claire Ross Dunn, and Maggie Ginsberg who read ARCs and gave me the first blurbs. Fly, book, fly!
